Firm Wins Jury Award in Logan County Trial
GUTHRIE, OK – GlassWilkin pc won a $1,353,000 jury verdict for Tracy Tarrant in Logan County District Court, Guthrie, Oklahoma on October 9, 2008. Mr. Tarrant asserted claims against Guthrie * * First Capital Bank for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing, civil conspiracy, and prima facie tort. After a four day jury trial Mr. Tarrant was awarded a unanimous verdict of $451,000.00 in actual damages and $902,000.00 in punitive damages. The Bank’s counsel at trial was John Hermes and Rodney Hunsinger, II of McAfee & Taft.
PAWHUSKA, OK - In the late evening hours of July 22, 2007, Robert Brooks and Dena Slater returned after an evening out to a small cabin at Betty’s Sportsman’s Lodge that they had moved into earlier that day. Moments later, Dena Slater lit a cigarette, triggering an explosion and fire. Both Brooks and Slater were injured by the explosion, receiving significant burns. Both eventually succumbed to their injuries or conditions related to the injuries. The Plaintiffs’ estates, represented by [Brewer, Wharton and Robinette], brought claims against the supplier of propane to the cabins, Titan Propane, seeking in excess of ten million dollars. GlassWilkin represented Titan Propane with Charles Wilkin serving as lead trial counsel. After a three-week jury trial, the Pawhuska jury deliberated just 42 minutes before returning a unanimous verdict in favor of the Defendant, Titan Propane.
